Bernal, NM - Fatal Crash at Calle Sabina & Co Rd B26A
Bernal, NM (January 14, 2020) - New Mexico State Police responded to a deadly crash involving two teenagers near Bernal, New Mexico on Saturday, January 11th. At around 1:45 p.m., the driver of a Ford F-250 lost control and left the roadway, striking a tree near the intersection of Calle Sabina & County Road B26A. The 16-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 14-year-old male passenger was injured in the crash and transported to a nearby hospital. No updates on their condition have been provided at this time. The cause of the accident isn’t known at this time.
Authorities don’t believe alcohol to be a factor in the crash, but initial reports revealed that seatbelts weren’t properly used. An ongoing investigation into the accident is in progress.
