Deming, NM - Daniel Quintana Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-10
Deming, NM (July 21, 2021) - A pileup collision involving three semis and a sport-utility vehicle ended in a fatality in Luna County on Tuesday, July 20.
The fatal crash reportedly occurred on Interstate 10 just west of milepost 105, between Deming and Las Cruces. Emergency responders were called to the scene at around 11 p.m. that evening. The site was closed for several hours, only reopening the following day near the time of 4 p.m.
According to initial reports from the New Mexico State Police, the tire of an SUV blew while traveling on the highway and was hit by an 18-wheeler. The semi flipped over, crashing into two other tractor-trailers on the road. The operator of the overturned truck, 37-year-old Daniel Quintana of Las Cruces, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
An ongoing crash investigation is currently in progress.
