Fatal Auto Accidents in New Mexico
Almost every day, we engage in one of the most dangerous activities: driving. In New Mexico, one out of every 130 car accidents results in a fatality. Two of the most common causes of serious car accidents in the state are distracted driving and speeding. According to the New Mexico Department of Transportation, a car accident occurs every 26 minutes, and over 25,000 people are injured each year in New Mexico's nearly 40,000 car accidents.
Wrongful death lawsuits are intended to assist surviving family members when a loved one dies as a result of another party's negligence. Unfortunately, obtaining that compensation is frequently easier said than done. Just because the victim died does not absolve the at-fault party of responsibility. Insurance companies for those at-fault will frequently try to shift blame for a fatal accident. The person or entity responsible for an untimely death should pay compensation to the family members of the deceased to assist with accident-related expenses. Only a Santa Rosa semi-truck crash lawyer with years of experience helping victims pursue wrongful death claims can accomplish this.
