High-Speed Crashes in New Mexico
Speeding is a predominant factor in traffic fatalities across the United States. In fact, over the past twenty years, speeding has been involved in roughly one-third of reported roadway deaths nationwide. Thousands are killed each year in high-speed collisions. Not only are you more likely to be involved in a crash when speeding, but the severity of the resulting injuries are magnified considerably. Speeding makes it much more difficult to safely control a vehicle, making avoiding roadway hazards harder as well. This means that drivers are less equipped to avoid catastrophic accidents while on the roads of New Mexico. A total of 9,378 people were killed in high-speed crashes across the country in 2018, accounting for nearly 26% of traffic fatalities that year.
