Intersection Crashes in New Mexico
Intersections are a facet of the roadway in every city. However, intersections are a hotspot for serious car accidents, despite making up a small fraction of roads across the country. There are more than 2.5 million intersection crashes reported annually, making up nearly 40% of reported car accidents. Nearly half of injury crashes and one-quarter of deadly accidents take place at intersections each year.
Car crashes in New Mexico are caused by a variety of roadway hazards, such as poor driving, excessive speed, unsafe road conditions, poor truck maintenance, road construction, and inadequate signage.
