Albuquerque, NM – Injuries Reported in Traffic Wreck on I-40 near Louisiana BLVD NE

Albuquerque, NM (January 1, 2023) – The police and firefighters out of Albuquerque responded to the scene of a major traffic accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon that sent at least one victim to a nearby medical facility where they underwent treatment for injuries. At around 3:55 p.m., on December 31, calls for help were received by the Albuquerque Police Department.

Preliminary crash investigations show that a traffic wreck blocked the eastbound side of Interstate 40 near Louisiana Boulevard Northeast. Police and firefighters rushed to the scene of the accident and immediately closed off multiple lanes on the eastbound side of the road.

Medics were dispatched to care for injured victims and transferred them to local hospitals.

The police and firefighters remained at the scene of the accident for an extended period while working to clear the roadway.

Preliminary investigations are underway.
