Albuquerque, NM - One Killed in Car Wreck on Coal Ave SE near Vassar Dr SE

Albuquerque, NM (October 29, 2022) - A fatal car accident took place in Albuquerque on Sunday night, October 23. Police responded to the wreck site located on Coal Avenue. 

Responders were dispatched to the crash scene, located on Coal Avenue Southeast near Vassar Drive southeast, near the University of New Mexico. What caused the wreck was unclear, however, by the time police arrived, the driver fled the scene. 

A passenger present in the car was transported to an area hospital with injuries. Shortly thereafter, APD received reports of a male, believed to be the driver of the involved vehicle, attempting to jump a fence in the 3100 block of Silver Avenue Southeast. 

Police found the man deceased at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the details of the accident.
