Speeding-Related Crashes in Albuquerque
Drivers in Albuquerque often act aggressively and are in a hurry, causing them to exceed the speed limit or drive faster than permitted by roadway conditions. Speeding is a common factor in collisions across New Mexico, and speeding drivers are less able to control their vehicles and have less time to avoid roadway hazards while driving.
A car traveling at a high rate of speed moves faster than the driver is able to react. When a driver speeds, it increases the distance needed to come to a complete stop. Over the past twenty years, speeding has been a factor in roughly one-third of reported traffic accidents in the United States. In 2018, nearly 26% of reported roadway deaths involved high-speed collisions, resulting in the deaths of 9,378 people that year. That is an average of 25 people losing their lives daily in high-speed car accidents.
In the state of New Mexico, plaintiffs injured in a vehicle collision have a right to be fully compensated for injuries resulting from the actions of a negligent party. When calculating the extent of a victim’s damages, many different factors are taken into consideration, including the suffering endured by the victim and the extent of their financial damages resulting from a New Mexico car accident. Considering all these factors can be overwhelming for those trying their best to recover after a car accident.
