Car Crashes

Car crashes are, by far, some of the most common personal injuries people suffer from. Fortunately, there are ways to prevent them. Vehicular safety comes first. Your car should be in perfect working order, and you need to always wear a seatbelt.

Always follow all traffic laws. Keep your eyes on the road and don’t drive while tired or distracted. Avoid speeding, improperly passing other cars, or running red lights and stop signs. Always drive defensively, allowing more aggressive drivers to pass. Be sure you know where you’re going, and plan ahead for any possible risks, including weather, traffic, or other crashes.

Slip & Falls

Slip and falls are common in the home, workplace, and other public areas. To avoid being injured in a slip and fall, make sure that floors are clean and free of oils and other liquids. Pick up small objects that may cause you to trip. Wear shoes that have a good grip. Even on clean floors, shoes without grip can still slide. Lastly, always walk at a slow pace, especially around corners.

Sports Injuries

If you play a lot of sports, you could be at a greater risk of injury. You should take some preventative measures before engaging in physical activity. Always ensure that your equipment is designed for the sport you’re playing. For instance, don’t use a bicycle helmet when playing hockey. Always warm up with stretches and other exercises before playing. Muscle strain can result in serious injuries. If you’re not feeling well, don’t be afraid to sit out. Listen to your body and know your own limits.

Assault

The truth is, assault can be hard to avoid, but you can take some steps to appear as less of a target. Don’t carry your valuables out in the open or avoid carrying them at all. Next, don’t dress too flashy -- blend in with the crowd. Carry protection. Pepper spray or a stun gun can help ward off a potential predator.

Burns & Other Fire Damages

Avoiding Common Personal InjuriesFire damage is devastating, no matter where it happens. The worst part is that these injuries are usually preventable. For instance, in the kitchen, keep an eye on what you’re cooking. Never let pets or children in the kitchen area unless you can supervise them.

To prevent electrical fires, you can make sure that all wires are properly functioning and not frayed. Corrosive chemicals and burns can be avoided by not handling any substances with which you’re unfamiliar or untrained dealing with.
