Hatch, NM - 2 Killed in Head-On Crash With Semi on NM-26
Hatch, NM (September 12, 2019) - A man and woman lost their lives after being involved in a crash with an 18-wheeler on Thursday afternoon, September 12th. The head-on collision took place at around 2:15 p.m. on NM-26 two miles outside of Hatch, New Mexico. The highway was shut down near milepost 44 for over five hours.
New Mexico State Police confirmed that the man and woman were both occupants of the passenger vehicle. Their car collided head-on with a semi-truck, killing both victims on impact. It is unclear if the trucker was injured in the crash. Police have not released his identity at this time.
The roadway was re-opened at around 7:30 p.m. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
