Las Vegas, NM - Jose Agustin Lucero Killed in Head-On Crash on I-25
Las Vegas, NM (October 30, 2020) - An 80-year-old man was killed following a head-on collision near Las Vegas in San Miguel County on Friday, October 23.
The site of the collision was reportedly located on the Interstate 25 frontage road at around 5:30 p.m. Initial reports from the New Mexico State Police revealed that a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling southbound on the highway at the time of the accident. For unknown reasons, the pickup crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an oncoming tow-truck.
The driver of the pickup, identified as Jose Agustin Lucero, was taken to a nearby medical facility where he was later pronounced dead. The driver and passenger of the tow-truck were transported by family members to a local hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No updates on their conditions are currently available.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is currently underway.
