Deadly Motorcycle Accidents in New Mexico

Alamogordo, NM - Susan DeForest Killed in Motorcycle Crash on US-54

In New Mexico, 44 motorcycle riders died in collisions in 2014. Nearly 11% of all fatalities in vehicle accidents involved motorcycles, which is in line with the national average. May through September are the warmest months when there are more motorcycles on the road, and this is when fatal motorcycle accidents tend to rise.

Law and cases relating to personal injury and wrongful death claims are very complex. Personal injury and wrongful death cases are generally governed by the same laws, regulations, insurance concerns, time constraints, and other guidelines. As a result, in New Mexico, they are both dealt with by what is known as personal injury attorneys and fall under the purview of personal injury law.

The recoverable damages are what set the two apart. Most of the time, a wrongful death lawyer in Albuquerque may be able to obtain far higher compensation than they would in a case involving a personal injury. Nonetheless, there are several circumstances when the damages could be significantly larger in cases of extremely serious personal injuries because of future medical costs and lost wages.
