The prevalence of distracted driving in today's technically inclined culture has led to an increase in fatal car accidents. Distractions are more common than ever for drivers, and the majority of drivers in New Mexico are in possession of electronic gadgets, such as cell phones and smartwatches, which could cause distractions while driving. A total of 3,142 people died in 2020 as a result of inattentive driving. In the United States in 2019, distracted driving accidents caused 424,000 injuries and nearly 3,100 fatalities.
Insurance firms frequently contact accident victims and ask them to provide an oral or written statement. After a car accident, severe injuries could easily disrupt your entire life. Someone who has recently been in an auto accident may exaggerate their injuries since they are still feeling the effects of the adrenaline from the crash, and a victim in shock may wrongly accept fault in a recorded statement as a result.
When accident victims are still recovering from their injuries and coming to terms with the accident, insurance adjusters frequently start pressuring them to accept a quick, low-value settlement. We strongly advise speaking with a lawyer prior to signing any insurance settlement forms or taking any payment from the insurer. By doing this, you can prevent yourself from accepting a settlement offer that is either undervalued or insufficient to fully make up for your losses.
