Albuquerque, NM (April 3, 2023) - The man who was injured in a crash with a stolen state vehicle on Monday, March 27, in Albuquerque was recently identified by authorities.
It was reported that 43-year-old David Pizzaro and his 10-year-old daughter were traveling in an SUV when the vehicle was hit by a driver who ran a stop sign. The at-fault driver, John Bearden Jr., had reportedly stolen a state vehicle and was traveling at a high rate of speed when he ignored the stop sign, crashing into the victim’s SUV.
Bearden fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended by officials. Both Pizzaro and his daughter were hospitalized for treatment of sustained injuries. Bearden confessed to being high on meth at the time of the crash, and he is currently facing multiple charges.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
