Magdalena, NM – Passenger Basil Cox Killed in Car Crash on US-60

Magdalena, NM (February 17, 2023) – A single-vehicle crash outside of Magdalena left one person dead on Wednesday, February 15. 

The deadly accident took place on US-60 near mile marker 103 at around 11 a.m. It was reported that a 65-year-old man was driving a 2001 Ford truck when the vehicle drove over a patch of ice and crashed off the roadway. A passenger in the vehicle, 86-year-old Basil Cox of Magdalena, sustained fatal injuries in the accident. 

The driver was not hurt in the crash. No additional information has been released at this time. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
