Pecos, NM (May 9, 2023) - On Saturday, May 6, a man was killed, and another person was injured following a two-vehicle crash in the Pecos area.
The deadly accident took place on NM-50 at around 12:30 a.m. It was reported that 26-year-old Gabe Romero was driving west in a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck when he entered the shoulder. Romero overcorrected and collided with an eastbound vehicle.
Romero suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No updates on their condition have been provided.
Alcohol may have played a role in the crash. No additional information has been provided.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
