Tucumcari, NM – Kayla Corrales Dies in Head-On Collision on I-40

Tucumcari, NM (March 2, 2022) – A Grady woman was killed following a head-on crash outside of Tucumcari on Friday morning, February 25. The deadly accident was reported on Interstate 40 at around 12:38 a.m. 

It was reported that a Chevrolet pickup truck was headed west on the highway when it collided with an eastbound Honda Pilot SUV. The driver of the Chevy, 27-year-old Kayla Corrales, was airlifted to a local hospital where they were later pronounced dead. The driver of the Pilot was transported to a medical facility in critical condition. 

Four passengers in the pilot, including a 2-year-old, were also hospitalized for treatment. No additional information has been provided. 

An ongoing investigation into the fatal crash is underway.
