Rio Rancho, NM - Injury Accident on Hwy 528 near Westside Blvd

Rio Rancho, NM (December 31, 2022) - On the morning of December 28, a car accident happened in Rio Rancho. The crash was reported to officials in the area at approximately 10:00 a.m. 

Crews were seen rendering aid at the scene a short time after the accident occurred. Sources said it took place on Highway 528 near Westside Boulevard. 

Responders worked in the area for an extended period of time. Injured victims were transported by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment. 

One or more patients suffered serious injuries. Their names have not been reported at this time. 

Traffic was delayed in the area and local drivers were forced to use different routes while the scene was active. Authorities in Rio Rancho are still investigating the circumstances of the incident.
