  • Be aware of medications that may cause drowsiness. Many Albuquerque residents take allergy medications, and some of these medications can cause drowsiness. If you take any of these medications, be sure to take all proper precautions. 
  • Recognize the potential warning signs of drowsy driving. If you are yawning or blinking frequently, having difficulty remembering the last few miles driven, missing your exit, driving lanes, or hitting the rumble strip, you should exit the road immediately.

 Pullover and rest or change drivers if you feel you are exhausted while driving. Don’t try to compensate by drinking coffee, turning up the radio, or opening the window for fresh air. It’s always better to stop and pull over than risk injuring yourself or others.
