Robert M. Ortiz was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He was admitted to the New Mexico State Bar in 1991 and to the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico and United States Tax Court in 1992. He is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association.

Robert’s province is complex multi-party litigation and trial work. He has made his mark in the legal community representing victims and families who have suffered devastating losses due to the negligence of others. He is a former prosecutor and trial attorney for the District Attorney’s office of New Mexico’s Fourth Judicial District with jurisdiction in Mora, San Miguel and Guadalupe Counties.

Robert and his wife Barbara have three children, Robert III, Savannah Rose and Eric Hunter. Robert is a passionate big game hunter, has hunted across the globe and holds several Boone & Crockett big-game records. If there’s any spare time is his trial schedule, you’ll find Robert traversing a far-off mountain range to hunt for his next exotic trophy or in some tropical location casting his fly rod at large predatory fish.
