The number of serious car crashes reported in New Mexico has continued to be a cause for concern. Statistics show that there were 466 traffic deaths reported across the state in 2022. A total of 122 of the incidents involved car crashes. Drivers in the state have a terrible habit of drinking and driving, and New Mexico continues to lead the nation in alcohol-related arrests. Almost 36 percent of deadly car accidents statewide in 2022 involved a drunk driver, resulting in 170 deaths that year.
The severity of your injuries will not affect who can be held liable for your injuries. Anyone who caused a serious car accident can be held responsible for any resulting injuries under New Mexico state law. Even if you believe you have an ironclad case for compensation, it will likely still be a long road to get the compensation you are owed. The insurance company will try to shift blame onto you even if it is clear that the at-fault party caused the accident. This is because insurers are ultimately for-profit businesses, and any compensation you are awarded will come from their pockets. You need a personal injury lawyer who knows these and other common tactics used by insurance adjusters in order to reduce your overall settlement after a car accident.
You need to get one of our qualified car accident lawyers on your side right away after being injured by a reckless motorist. This can help ensure that key evidence is preserved from the crash site. Our legal team will take over the negotiations with the insurance provider to make sure you are not unfairly treated by a large insurance provider.
