Every year, more and more car accidents are caused by distracted driving, which is becoming more and more common in the United States. It makes sense that drivers pose a major risk to everyone when they are staring down at their phones rather than on the road. Driver distraction is a serious issue in New Mexico, where it contributes significantly to overall traffic fatalities. According to statistics, driver distraction accounts for about 36 percent of road fatalities in New Mexico, making it one of the worst states in the country for distracted driving crashes. At highway speeds, you can cover the length of a football field in the time it takes to send one text.
It is the driver's responsibility, not the victim's, to cover any resulting injuries and damages caused by a serious collision. The at-fault driver can be held liable for the injuries and other damages if the victim chooses to file a personal injury claim. However, filing a personal injury claim could be even more difficult than it first appears. You should not take any chances with your recovery during this difficult time. It is common for crash victims to be confused about how to begin their recovery. Together with a qualified lawyer, you should take all the required actions to increase your prospects of receiving full compensation.
You may be able to pursue a full financial recovery after a serious crash by filing a personal injury claim as soon as possible. A qualified Albuquerque personal injury lawyer will be able to help examine your case and determine what damages may be available.
