Albuquerque, NM (April 1, 2024) - On Saturday, March 30, a motorcyclist was killed following a two-vehicle crash in the Albuquerque area. The deadly accident was reported at the corner of 86th Street SW and Sedge Creek Road SW that night around 6:30 p.m. Emergency responders were rushed to the scene after a motorcycle reportedly collided with another vehicle.
Local reports revealed that a Nissan sedan was stopped at the intersection when the driver attempted to make a left turn. The vehicle entered the path of an oncoming rider, and the motorcycle crashed into the driver-side door of the sedan. The rider sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver involved was transported to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
Riding a motorcycle is a feeling unlike any other. Unfortunately, even the most experienced riders know that the road is far from safe for motorcyclists. According to data from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), New Mexico has one of the highest rates of motorcycle fatality rates in the country. The number of riders killed in the state in 2021 was the highest figure recorded since 1975. A total of 51 motorcyclists were killed in crashes across the Land of Enchantment that year, for a fatality rate of eight per 10,000 registered vehicles. Only 13 other states had a higher rate of deadly motorcycle collisions that year.
Dealing with the aftermath of a deadly crash is never easy. You can feel that your life will never be the same, and you can also find yourself dealing with unexpected financial damages on top of it all. It is important that you are ready to get to work on your case to maximize your recovery during this difficult time. Motorcyclists are at greater risk of suffering fatal injuries in a crash, and if you have a family member who rides, they are at risk.
