Albuquerque, NM – Passenger Killed in Wrong-Way Crash at I-25 & Paseo Del Norte
Albuquerque, NM (January 22, 2024) – On Sunday, January 21, one person was killed and others were injured after a crash involving a wrong-way driver in the Albuquerque area. The deadly accident took place on the southbound on-ramp for Interstate 25 near Paseo Del Norte early that morning. Local reports indicated that a Ford Focus was traveling westbound on Paseo Del Norte when the driver noticed the lights of an oncoming Honda.
The driver of the Ford attempted to change lanes at the same time as the other motorist, and the Honda was traveling in the wrong direction when both vehicles collided head-on. A passenger in the Ford suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both drivers were hospitalized for treatment of sustained injuries. Authorities indicated that the driver of the Honda showed signs of impairment at the time of the accident. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in progress.
