Red Light Crashes in New Mexico
Traffic signals are just another part of using the road, and they are intended to make you safer when driving a car. However, they do not operate as intended when drivers fail to follow them. Many drivers in New Mexico are known to run red lights, and this particularly reckless action behind the wheel is known to result in catastrophic collisions. The statistics show that more than 800 people are killed in red-light crashes across the United States each year, and more than 140,000 people are hurt by red-light runners. Even though around 86 percent of drivers claim that they know running a red light is extremely dangerous, nearly 28 percent of fatal collisions at intersections involve someone who ignored a traffic signal or stop sign.
There are only so many things you can do to prevent a crash, but the fact of the matter is that you can only do so much to prevent a reckless driver from causing you life-changing harm.
