Clovis, NM – Motorcycle Crash Claims Life at 21st St & Prince St
Clovis, NM (December 27, 2025) – Authorities have confirmed that a fatal motorcycle collision occurred Thursday evening, December 25, at the intersection of 21st Street and Prince Street in Clovis. According to information released by the Clovis Police Department, emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle at approximately 5:58 p.m.
Clovis Police officers, along with Clovis Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services personnel, were dispatched to the scene shortly after the call was received. Upon arrival, responders observed a motorcycle that had sustained extensive damage and an adult male rider lying in the roadway. A second vehicle involved in the crash was also present and showed significant front-end and windshield damage.
First responders immediately began administering life-saving aid to the motorcyclist, who was later identified as a 22-year-old. Authorities indicated that he had been ejected from the motorcycle as a result of the collision. Emergency medical personnel continued treatment at the scene before transporting him to Plains Regional Medical Center for further care. Due to the severity of his injuries, the motorcyclist was later airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Despite continued medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the passenger vehicle involved in the crash was also transported to Plains Regional Medical Center, where they were treated for minor injuries. Officials did not release the driver’s identity or provide details regarding their current condition beyond initial treatment.
Preliminary information gathered from witnesses suggests that the motorcycle was traveling southbound on Prince Street and proceeding through a green traffic signal at the time of the crash. Investigators believe that a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction made a left-hand turn in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle reportedly struck the front passenger-side area of the vehicle, causing the rider to be thrown from the bike. Authorities stated that the motorcyclist struck the windshield before landing in the roadway.
The Clovis Police Department Major Crash Team has taken over the investigation and continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Our deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the young man who lost his life in this tragic accident.
Motorcycle Accidents in Clovis
Motorcycle crashes often result in devastating consequences due to the lack of physical protection afforded to riders. Intersections, in particular, present heightened risks for motorcyclists, as they involve turning vehicles, traffic signals, and multiple points of conflict. Even when a motorcyclist is traveling lawfully, visibility issues and misjudged turns can lead to severe or fatal collisions.
Fatal and serious motorcycle accidents frequently involve traumatic injuries. Riders may suffer head and brain injuries, spinal trauma, internal organ damage, broken bones, and severe soft tissue injuries. Ejection from a motorcycle greatly increases the risk of life-threatening harm, especially when the rider impacts another vehicle or the roadway. In many cases, these injuries require extensive emergency treatment, prolonged hospitalization, and specialized care.
Beyond the physical toll, fatal motorcycle accidents leave families facing significant emotional and financial challenges. Medical expenses incurred before a loved one’s passing, funeral and burial costs, and the sudden loss of income can place an overwhelming strain on surviving family members. Understanding available legal options becomes an important step during this difficult time.
In New Mexico, wrongful death claims may allow surviving family members to pursue compensation related to medical bills, funeral expenses, lost future income, and other damages associated with the loss of a loved one. These matters are governed by strict legal deadlines, making it important for families to seek reliable guidance before time limits expire and evidence becomes more difficult to obtain.
