Lincoln Co., NM – Flight Crew Member Identified in Fatal Aircraft Crash Near Capitan
Lincoln County, NM (May 16, 2026) – On Friday, May 15, community members and a local fire department identified one of the four people who died in an aircraft crash near Capitan in Lincoln County as Sarah Clark.
Clark was a member of the medical flight crew on board the aircraft. Her father, Matt Clark, serves as the Otero County Emergency Manager.
The collision occurred on Thursday, May 14, when a medical transport aircraft traveling from Roswell to Sierra Blanca Regional Airport lost communication and radar contact. Trans Aero MedEvac, the company operating the flight, confirmed the crew was overdue after contact was lost.
Emergency units responded and found the aircraft at the crash site. All four occupants were found deceased.
Trans Aero MedEvac released a statement expressing sorrow for its crew. The identities of the other three people on board have not been released.
A fire broke out at the crash site, and as of Friday, the Seven Cabins Fire had grown to 500 acres with zero percent containment. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
We extend our sincere condolences to the Clark family and to all the families affected by this tragedy.
Compensation Available After a Fatal Crash in Lincoln County, NM
After a fatal crash in Lincoln County, your family may seek compensation for funeral costs, medical bills, lost income, and loss of companionship. The amount available depends on the crash facts and who may be legally responsible. Understanding these categories can help your family protect the value of the claim.
When funeral and burial expenses arise, they can become one of the first financial burdens your family faces. These costs may include the memorial service, transportation, burial, or cremation. Keeping receipts and invoices can help support this part of the claim.
If the victim received medical care before passing, those costs become part of the claim. Emergency care, ambulance transport, hospital treatment, and related expenses may apply. Your family should gather any medical bills or insurance statements tied to the accident.
When the person who died was a working professional, lost future income may become a major part of the claim. This can include wages, benefits, retirement contributions, and other earnings. Tax records, pay records, and employment documents can help support this calculation.
The loss affects daily family life; so your family can also seek compensation for loss of companionship, love, and guidance. These damages reflect the personal impact of losing someone close. Family statements can help show what the victim meant to those around them.
Before the claim moves forward, liability must be carefully reviewed. In a medical transport aircraft crash, fault may involve the operator, maintenance provider, aircraft manufacturer, or more than one party.
