Oak Flats, NM - Fatal Injuries in Head-on Collision on NM-337

Oak Flats, NM (March 7, 2024) - On Wednesday morning, March 6, one person was killed and another was hurt after a head-on crash in the Oak Flats area. The deadly accident took place on NM-337 as a Ford pickup truck driven by a 38-year-old man was traveling southbound on the highway. 

For reasons still under investigation, the Ford crossed into northbound traffic and collided head-on with a Kia Forte driven by 70-year-old David Iacoviello of Tijeras. Iacoviello suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the pickup was transported to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. No updates on this condition have been provided at this time. The roadway was closed in both directions while emergency crews were present. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is in progress.
