Raton, NM – Infant Killed in Crash Reported on US 64/87 near MM 355

Raton, NM (February 11, 2024) – An infant died as a result of a fatal collision that occurred on Friday evening in Colfax County. The incident occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. on February 9.

Investigations performed by the New Mexico State Police in the Colfax County Sheriff’s Department indicate that a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling on US Highway 64/87. The vehicle was moving at a slow rate of speed while having its emergency flashers activated. For unknown reasons, a 2024 semi-truck tractor-trailer, driven by 29-year-old Talon Green, crashed into the Dodge.

Four people in the pickup truck were severely injured in the crash. The victims were transported to Miners Colfax Medical Center for emergency medical treatment. One additional victim, identified as an infant, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
