What Injuries Commonly Occur in Serious Crashes in Santa Fe?
Severe two-vehicle crashes often result in significant injuries due to the force involved, especially when speeds are high or impacts are sudden. In collisions like the one reported on Caja Del Rio Road, survivors may face a wide range of traumatic injuries requiring immediate and ongoing medical care.
Head and brain injuries are among the most serious outcomes. Drivers and passengers may suffer concussions or traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), even when seat belts are used. These injuries can lead to long-term cognitive, physical, and emotional challenges.
Chest and internal injuries are also common in serious crashes. The impact can cause rib fractures or damage to internal organs such as the lungs, liver, or spleen. Internal bleeding may not be immediately visible but can be life-threatening if not promptly diagnosed.
Spinal and neck injuries frequently occur as well. The sudden force of a collision can result in whiplash, herniated discs, fractured vertebrae, or spinal cord injuries, some of which may cause permanent mobility limitations.
Broken bones and orthopedic injuries are another major concern. Arms, legs, hips, and shoulders often absorb the force of impact, leading to fractures that may require surgery, rehabilitation, and extended recovery periods.
