New Mexico drivers have a serious problem with intoxication on the roads. The state has continually had the highest rate of alcohol-related arrests in the country. In 2019, there were 176 drunk driving collisions reported in the state, compared to only 110 in 2010. From 2009 to 2018, a total of 1,085 people were killed in New Mexico due to intoxicated drivers. Drivers who are intoxicated and drive a car are committing a crime and putting everyone on the road at risk of being seriously injured.
You can never control the actions of another driver, and you never know if someone is behaving as they should on the road. The actions of negligent drivers often contribute to life-changing car accidents in New Mexico, and it is important that you are able to take the necessary actions to protect your legal rights if you or someone close to you is unfairly injured in the event of a crash. Drunk drivers are commonplace on New Mexico roadways, and you need to partner with a lawyer who understands the law and can help you pursue full and fair compensation for your injuries.
Pedestrians are exposed to the dangers of the road, and they are more likely to suffer from life-threatening injuries in the event of a crash. That means that the resulting medical bills and other damages are likely to be much greater than a typical collision. You need to do whatever you can to pursue the full compensation you are owed for your injuries and other losses.
