Motorcycle Accidents in Albuquerque
Motorcycle crashes remain a significant public safety concern throughout Albuquerque, particularly along major roadways and intersections such as Menaul Boulevard. Intersections present elevated risks for motorcyclists due to turning vehicles, traffic signal timing, and the challenges drivers may face in detecting smaller vehicles.
Many motorcycle accidents occur as a result of turning conflicts, failure to yield the right of way, driver inattention, or misjudgment of speed and distance. Even when riders follow traffic laws, they remain vulnerable because motorcycles offer little physical protection compared to passenger vehicles.
In serious motorcycle collisions, injuries are often severe. Riders may suffer traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord damage, internal injuries, fractures, and extensive soft tissue trauma. When a crash results in death, surviving family members may be left dealing with emotional loss as well as unexpected financial burdens.
Under New Mexico law, families who lose a loved one in a fatal crash may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. These claims can help address damages such as funeral and burial expenses, medical costs incurred before death, loss of financial support, and loss of companionship. State law places limits on how long families have to pursue legal action, making it important to understand available options promptly.
Fatal motorcycle accidents often involve complex investigations and insurance considerations. Insurance companies may begin evaluating claims shortly after a crash, which can create additional challenges for grieving families. Having knowledgeable legal guidance can help families navigate these matters while ensuring their rights are protected.
