Alamogordo, NM - Injuries in Dust Storm Semi Crash on US-54

Alamogordo, NM (March 19, 2025) – On Tuesday, there were confirmed injuries after a multi-vehicle crash outside of Alamogordo. The incident took place on US-54 in Otero County. Local reports revealed that five semi-trucks were involved in the incident. 

Impaired visibility to a dust storm is believed to have contributed to the crash. There were no deaths reported, but three prisoners traveling in a prison transport van were reportedly injured. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, and the injured parties were transported to a local hospital by ambulance for additional treatment. It is currently unknown if anyone else involved was hurt in the crash. Nearly 101 miles of the highway were closed as local authorities were present. No further information on the accident is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are handling an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
