One of the leading factors in serious collisions in New Mexico is driver distraction. Recent federal research found that distracted driving contributes to roughly 3,000 fatal car accidents annually in the United States on average. The statistics also showed that nearly 1 in 5 fatalities in 2019 were caused by inattentive drivers. Sadly, most of these fatalities involved passengers in other cars.
Your life can change completely in a matter of seconds if you are injured in a car accident. The injuries you sustain can derail your life and make it hard to get back on your feet again. You should never make the mistake that you are completely fine after a car accident. It is always advised that you seek treatment from a trusted physician or medical personnel. He or she can help you better understand your condition, and your hospital visit can even establish a connection between your injuries and the accident itself.
There are many things that crash victims are often unaware of after an accident. One of these includes speaking with the insurance adjuster. It is common for insurance companies to send adjusters to contact you after a collision. They will pose as a friend, but in reality, they are looking out for the company’s bottom line. Anything you say can be used against you, and you should always assume that the insurer will be looking out for their own bottom line. You can find yourself in a difficult situation if you or someone close to you is injured in a crash, and a trained lawyer can help.
