The speed of an impact is important because collisions that take place at high rates of speed are more likely to result in life-threatening or fatal injuries. According to the most recent crash statistics, speeding plays a role in almost 37 percent of fatal car accidents in New Mexico. Speeding drivers in the state were involved in more than 370 fatal car accidents in the state between 2017 and 2019. In fact, New Mexico has one of the highest rates of speeding-related fatalities in the country. Statistics show that for every 100 fatal car accidents in the state, there are 115 estimated deaths caused by speeding.
You have legal rights if you are unfairly injured in a car accident in New Mexico. State law provides for crash victims the ability to pursue a personal injury claim in order to recover lost compensation. However, the claims process is far from easy. Even if you think you have a strong case, there are certain factors that need to be taken into consideration. You need to establish that the at-fault party was negligent and that this negligence resulted in the accident that caused you injuries. This involves the collection of evidence, the formulation of a strong claim, and reaching out to any witnesses who may have seen the incident as it happened.
The claims process can be difficult and confusing if you have limited experience with the law. You need a qualified personal injury attorney who can use their years of experience to help you pursue a strong claim for compensation. A skilled legal team will be able to make sure your legal rights are protected and that the at-fault party is held responsible for their role in your accident.
