New Mexico Reckless Driving Crashes
Many drivers do not focus as much as they should on the road. Statistics show that over 10 percent of distracted drivers fail to keep their eyes on the road. Distracted driving quickly overtakes other factors as the leading cause of catastrophic collisions in the United States. Texting while driving is one of the most prevalent forms of distracted driving. In New Mexico, driver distraction is a serious issue. The state reported 21,894 crashes involving distracted drivers in a recent year. Across the nation, distracted driving crashes claim the lives of nine people every day, culminating in over 3,000 fatalities annually. In the event of an accident, we should hold drivers who fail to pay attention to the road responsible for any injuries and other damages.
