Speeding-related Crashes in New Mexico
New Mexicans have a history of going over the speed limit. Unfortunately, everyone on the road is at risk when sharing the road with a speeding motorist. Speeding reduces a driver’s ability to maintain control of their vehicle and come to a stop quickly enough to avoid potentially fatal collisions. Tens of thousands of Americans lose their lives in speeding-related collisions each year. According to statistics, more than 25 percent percent of all road fatalities in New Mexico are caused by speeding drivers. Drivers who choose to go over the speed limit and cause a serious collision should be held accountable for their actions since speeding poses a serious risk to everyone on the road.
