Albuquerque, NM – DUI Crash at Coors Bypass & Ellison Dr Leaves 1 Critically Injured
Albuquerque, NM (October 13, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle crash on Sunday morning, October 12, left one man critically injured and caused major traffic disruptions on Albuquerque’s west side.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department (APD), the collision occurred around 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of Coors Bypass and Ellison Drive. Officers arrived to find a vehicle that had rolled over multiple times, trapping a man inside. Rescue crews worked quickly to free the victim before transporting him to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Police later identified the driver responsible for the crash as 25-year-old Seth Mitchell. Investigators say Mitchell was driving drunk at the time of the collision. Evidence shows that a white van driven by Mitchell was speeding southbound on Coors when it ran a red light and slammed into a white Honda traveling westbound through the intersection on a green light. The impact caused the Honda to flip several times, coming to rest upside down with the driver pinned inside.
APD arrested Mitchell on Sunday night and charged him in connection with the crash. The Albuquerque traffic accident report notes that the area remained closed for several hours while officers investigated and cleared the wreckage.
Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding this wreck.
Our thoughts are with the victim and their loved ones as they navigate this difficult time.
