Car wrecks are a common reason people in the United States end up with injuries or lose their lives. Every day, over 7,500 people sustain injuries in the US due to auto accidents. The most alarming fact related to American car wrecks is that most of them are caused by negligent driving and totally preventable. Negligent drivers operate their vehicles while overtired, at unsafe speeds, while intoxicated, or totally distracted. The most common type of negligent driving today is distracted driving, most often by cell phones.
Driving a vehicle at a speed of approximately 55 miles per hour while looking down at a cell phone for five seconds is the same as driving the length of a football field with your eyes closed. This is extremely dangerous and can even turn out to be deadly for everyone involved. Negligent driving is the cause of over 90% of reported car crashes in the United States today, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association.
Sustaining serious injuries in a car crash is never easy, and can land you or your loved one in the hospital for a long time, where you must undergo medical procedures that can be exhausting and expensive. You are forced to spend your money, time, and energy recovering from injuries that were imposed upon you by another person who was careless and/or reckless while driving, which can add insult to injury. You may be going through an extremely difficult time after you’re hurt in a car crash, especially if you know it was caused by a negligent driver.
