Based on statistical data, car crashes account for the majority of fatalities and serious injuries in New Mexico, and the state's roadways are becoming increasingly more dangerous with each passing year. According to the statistics, 2021 was the deadliest year for car accidents in New Mexico. That year, there were more deadly collisions in the Land of Enchantment than there were in the past ten years combined. There were 470 road fatalities reported statewide in that year, compared to 425 fatalities in 2019. Most of these crashes were the consequence of careless driving and were completely preventable.
There is a good chance that you will get hurt in some way if you are involved in a car accident, regardless of the kind of car you drive or how it happened. Vehicle collisions frequently result in fractured bones, whiplash, and traumatic brain injury. You might not be prepared to shoulder the expenses of the prolonged medical care that many of these new injuries will require. You should not have to pay for these kinds of losses if you were not responsible for the accident.
There are many factors that can cause a serious crash. Drivers might drive too fast or fail to pay attention to the road. In any case, following a car accident, you must make sure you get medical attention. By doing this, you can make sure you understand the true extent of your injuries and protect yourself if you later choose to pursue a personal injury claim. Your injuries may only worsen in the days following the crash. The insurance company may use your failure to see a doctor following your collision as justification to reject your claim or even make the argument that your injuries had nothing to do with the collision.
