Automobile accidents continue to be the main cause of fatalities and serious injuries for New Mexico residents. In 2018, 29,541 car accidents were reported in the state, and the total number of deaths from these car accidents came to 229. The state has seen a steady rise in the number of fatal collisions. In New Mexico, there were 466 reported fatalities on the roads in 2022, and alcohol was a factor in almost 36% of these fatal collisions. These crashes contributed to a total of 170 fatalities. With 143 reported traffic fatalities that year, Bernalillo County had the most fatal collisions in the state, and Albuquerque had the highest number of crashes of any city in the Land of Enchantment.
The risk of a crash is always present on the road, and you need to be ready to take the necessary action to make a complete recovery. This means collecting relevant evidence that can show that the at-fault driver is responsible for the collision. This may seem simple, but usually, these types of cases are extremely complicated. Even crash victims who think they have a homerun case can still encounter difficulties when pursuing a personal injury claim. Insurance companies do not want to pay out claims, and they will try to pressure you to settle for a lower settlement than you really need. You need to make sure you have a trusted personal injury attorney on your side to handle your case and take over negotiations with the insurer to ensure that you get a fair settlement offer.
It is common to have a lot of questions if you are injured in a crash. This is something that no one is ever prepared for, and you have to make sure you have someone working hard on your case.
