In the United States, there are approximately six million yearly auto collisions. These wrecks cause around 40,000 deaths and approximately 3 million injuries yearly. Despite the safety offered by seatbelts, one in seven drivers chooses to go without one. This is unfortunate, as doing so reduces the chances of death in a crash by about 45%.
The main reasons car accidents happen in New Mexico and throughout the country are driver intoxication, speeding, and negligent driving. Over 400,000 car crashes happen per year due to the actions of distracted drivers - most of whom are distracted by none other than their cell phones. Looking down at your cell phone for five seconds while traveling in a vehicle at 55 miles per hour is the same as traveling the length of a football field with your eyes closed. This is extremely dangerous and can lead to severe injuries and even death for everyone involved.
When you or a beloved member of your family is hurt in an accident, it is important to know that you have legal rights and options that can aid you in your recovery. Especially if you know that your accident was the fault of another person, you should contact an attorney as soon as you can. A lawyer can help you learn more about how you can move forward financially by collecting full and fair financial compensation for your injuries and losses.
Regrettably, insurance companies sometimes attempt to offer less compensation than you’re entitled to. When this occurs, having the help of a car crash lawyer in Albuquerque can help. It’s important to remember to work quickly after your crash, get the appropriate medical care necessary for your injuries, and contact an attorney as soon as you can to get started on your claim. There is a possibility of running out of time due to the statute of limitations in New Mexico. You have three years from the date of your crash to file a claim. Doing so after three years may render you unable to collect compensation for your damages.
Call Will Ferguson & Associates as soon as you can to learn more about your legal right toward financial compensation. You deserve to recover without having to worry about money. Contact our law firm at (505) 243-5566 at your earliest convenience to schedule a cost-free consultation.
