New Mexico motorists are known for engaging in reckless actions behind the wheel. The state has some of the highest rates of collisions caused by speeding, intoxication, and driver distraction. Tens of thousands of people are killed each year by speeding drivers across the United States. In fact, speeding has been a factor in roughly one-third of reported traffic fatalities nationwide in the past thirty years. When you exceed the speed limit, you are more likely to lose control of your vehicle, and the force of impact is more likely to cause life-threatening injuries.
The aftermath of a collision can range from minor to severe. Some people sustain life-threatening or fatal injuries as a result of a car crash. Crash victims are also known to sustain significant financial challenges due to unexpected medical expenses, property damage, and lost wages. Simply having an understanding of your legal rights can help you in your pursuit of justice. You have rights as a crash victim in New Mexico, and you are able to seek compensation for any injuries or losses you incurred.
You also have the right to refuse any unfair settlement offered by an insurance provider. In many cases, these quick settlements are not enough to completely reimburse you for your damages and injuries. If you accept a subpar settlement, you will be giving up your ability to seek any additional compensation. This could leave you in a difficult situation if you later find out you were more seriously injured than you initially thought.
You do not have to go up against a large insurer on your own. Will Ferguson & Associates knows how to help people who were unfairly injured in car accidents. We have a proven track record of helping New Mexico residents pursue full and fair compensation for their injuries, and we can help you, too.
