High-Speed Crashes in New Mexico
Speeding continues to be a significant contributing factor in fatal car incidents in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that New Mexico is 10th in the country for collisions caused by speed. Speeding has been connected to more than one-third of road deaths reported nationally over the last 20 years, and in New Mexico, speed is a key factor in about 35 percent of recorded crashes. Drivers who speed are much more likely to lose control of their vehicles, and the safety devices on cars do not function properly in high-speed impacts. This potentially deadly combination has lead to an increased rate of speeding-related collisions in recent years.
Nearly limitless factors can cause a serious crash. After a car accident, you have to make sure you get medical attention as soon as possible. This can help ensure that you understand the full scope of your injuries and protect yourself in the event that you choose to make a personal injury claim down the road. It’s possible that your injuries will worsen in the days after the crash. If you didn’t seek medical attention after the crash, the insurance company may deny your claim or even claim that your injuries had nothing to do with the collision. Your attorney can assist you in making sure that all required measures are followed to optimize your recovery as you pursue your claim.
