New Mexico Deadly Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrian deaths have reached all-time highs in recent years, and current statistics show that New Mexico continues to lead the nation in deadly pedestrian crashes. While pedestrian fatalities have reached nearly 28-year highs, injury rates have all increased in recent years. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a total of 130,000 pedestrians were treated in emergency rooms for injuries resulting from vehicle collisions in 2016.
It may seem shocking, but there are actually more pedestrian accidents taking place than ever before. Even with the latest technology making us more visible at intersections and increasingly innovative warning sensors in modern-day vehicles, more and more pedestrians are dying every year. However, there are some key reasons that pedestrians are still at risk on the roads of New Mexico and greater Albuquerque. There are more larger vehicles on the road than ever before, and this means that pedestrians are more likely to suffer fatal injuries when they are struck. There are also just more people living in New Mexico, and this means more crowded crosswalks, shopping areas, and sidewalks throughout the state.
Deadly pedestrian accidents are some of the hardest to bear, and those closest to the victim often suffer the most. There is an incredibly high risk of losing a loved in a pedestrian crash, and if you do, you need to be ready to take action to make sure that the at-fault party is brought to justice. This means partnering with a trusted personal injury lawyer immediately after the incident to make sure you are able to pursue the strongest case possible against the person responsible.
