Pedestrian Accidents in New Mexico
Statistics show that the number of pedestrian crashes taking place across the United States is on the rise, and New Mexico is not an exception to this reality. In fact, the state historically has had the highest rate of pedestrian fatalities in the nation. According to the Governor’s Highway Safety Association (GHSA), there were more than 250 more people killed in pedestrian accidents across the United States in 2018 compared to 2017. That year marked an all-time high in pedestrian deaths with a reported 6,227 fatalities, the highest figure in almost 28 years. New Mexico experienced a 47 percent in pedestrian deaths between the first half of 2017 and the first half of 2018.
A pedestrian has the same right to use the road as anyone else does. You need to assert your rights if you were unfairly injured by the reckless actions of a motor vehicle driver while traveling on foot. Too many pedestrians suffer life-threatening injuries in auto accidents every year, and the injuries resulting from these types of crashes are often life-threatening. This means that they will often require extensive medical treatment in order to make a complete recovery. You should not be left footing the bill for these and other expenses if you were unfairly injured as a pedestrian on New Mexico roadways.
The aftermath of a pedestrian crash is often catastrophic, and the driver responsible will try to deny blame in any way possible. This means using deceptive practices on the part of the insurance provider in order to deny you the compensation you are rightly owed. You need to hire a trained personal injury lawyer in New Mexico to handle your case so you do not lose out on deserved compensation in your case. Our legal team can help you during the recovery process to make sure that you are able to get the highest value for your claim.
