New Mexico Pedestrian Accidents
Some of the most devastating types of collisions involve pedestrians. There is little to absorb the full impact of a crash, meaning that the person on foot is likely to suffer life-threatening injuries. The issue of pedestrian safety is becoming worse in Albuquerque and across the state of New Mexico. Over 70 people are killed each year in pedestrian crashes across the state, according to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the number of fatal pedestrian accidents continues to rise. The state continually is rated as one of the most dangerous states in the nation for pedestrians.
If you or someone close to you is hurt in a pedestrian accident, you will need a trained lawyer who is prepared to walk you through every step of the recovery process. Your attorney will be able to help you build a strong case to pursue proper compensation for your injuries and other damages.
It is pretty rare for a pedestrian to be found at fault for a crash. However, the insurance company will still contest your claim at every turn. The insurer may try to argue that your injuries were pre-existing or unrelated to the accident. They will even try to get you to accept a lowball offer that is not enough to cover the full extent of your losses, even if they say it is everything you will need. A trained attorney will know how to look at the facts and make sure you obtain a complete recovery.
