Albuquerque, NM – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash Near UNM Hospital
Albuquerque, NM (October 10, 2025) – A tragic hit-and-run crash near the University of New Mexico Hospital on Thursday night, October 9, left a pedestrian dead and led to the arrest of a driver identified as Brian Boyce, according to the Albuquerque Police Department.
Authorities said the crash happened when a speeding Honda Accord struck a pedestrian crossing Lomas Boulevard at Stanford Drive. The victim, later confirmed to be a UNM Hospital employee, was walking north and crossing the street when Boyce’s vehicle hit them. After the collision, Boyce stopped the car briefly and then fled the scene on foot, leaving the victim critically injured.
Emergency responders from Albuquerque Police, Fire, and EMS arrived quickly and transported the victim to the hospital, but doctors could not save their life. Detectives launched an immediate investigation and used surveillance footage and witness statements to identify Boyce as the driver. Officers located and arrested him a short time later.
Boyce now faces multiple charges, including leaving the scene of an accident causing great bodily harm or death. Police are still gathering evidence to determine whether speeding, distraction, or impairment played a role in the deadly crash.
Traffic along Lomas Boulevard was temporarily closed while investigators processed the scene and cleared debris. Officials confirmed that this case remains under active investigation.
We extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family, friends, and coworkers during this challenging time.
