New Mexico is home to some of the worst drivers in the whole country. Car accidents can still happen even if you follow all traffic laws. This is due to the fact that you have no influence over what other people do behind the wheel. In 2018, driver distraction became one of the leading causes of traffic accidents in the state. Distracted driving contributed to roughly 21.5 percent of injury crashes and 8.3 percent of fatal collisions across the state that year.
It is common for crash victims to be unsure about their future after a serious car accident. Victims often take on mounting debts and other damages that they are not prepared to handle. It can be stressful to pay for your losses and injuries on top of other expenses as you deal with life-changing injuries. Most people are not able to pay for these damages out of pocket. You may be able to pursue a claim for compensation in order to achieve a full and fair recovery.
You should partner with a trained lawyer who is able to help you navigate the complicated legal process. You should not try to handle your claim on your own for a variety of reasons.
