Distracted Driving Accidents in New Mexico
Every year, more and more car accidents are caused by distracted driving, which is becoming more and more common in the United States. It makes sense that drivers pose a major risk to everyone when they are staring down at their phones rather on the road. Driver distraction is a serious issue in New Mexico, where it contributes significantly to the state’s yearly traffic fatalities. According to statistics, driver inattention accounts for about 36 percent of road fatalities in New Mexico, making it one of the worst states in the country for distracted driving crashes. At highway speeds, you can cover the length of a football field in the time it takes to send one text, and this is more than enough to cause a life-changing crash.
It is the driver’s responsibility, not the victim’s, to cover any resulting injuries and damages in the event of a serious collision. The driver who caused the accident can be held liable for the victim’s injuries and other damages if they successfully file a personal injury claim. However, filing a personal injury claim is often much more difficult than it seems. During this trying time, you should not take any chances with your recovery. It is common for crash victims to be uncertain about how to begin their recovery. Together with a qualified lawyer, you can take all the required actions to increase your chances of receiving full compensation in your case.
